Dental Staff

The Pearl Dentures and Dental Care staff is knowledgable and caring. Your trust and providing for your comfort is our goal. The highest levels of accreditation are maintained by our professionals and they receive ongoing education to keep up-to-date with recent advances and trends in the field.

Dr. Kathy Hubnik

Dr. Kathy Hubnik’s genuine care and concern for her patients is fully evident and she works hard to provide a relaxed atmosphere to alleviate any anxiety. Decades of practice have given her an extensive personal knowledge base, plus the skill and ability to react adeptly to any dental issue or emergency.

You may find that Dr. Hubnik whistles while she’s working. You can try and guess the tunes, but we don’t recommend you join in no matter how tempting it may be. Local anesthesia and a mouth full of dental tools would likely make that difficult, though humorous, to do.

Dr. Hubnik received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas, Permian Basin in Midland and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the Baylor School of Dentistry in Dallas.

Sonja Owens
Sonja OwensRDH
Sonja has a deeply personal connection to the role that dentistry can play in a patient’s self-confidence which led her to pursue it as a career. Up until 8th grade, Sonja was quick to cover her mouth when she laughed or smiled. She was extremely self-conscious of a front tooth that looked broken because it never fully descended. In 8th grade, she had cosmetic bonding to correct it.

“It made such a drastic difference in my appearance and my self-confidence that I decided then that I wanted to work in dentistry some day.”
-Sonja Owens

Sonja took the first step at age 17 when she began working in the front office and later as a dental assistant for Mitchell Walker, DDS. She decided to attend college to complete a dental hygiene degree and returned to work for Dr. Walker for the next 17 years until he retired. Sonja underwent dental work herself during that time so has a great deal of understanding and empathy from the patient perspective. She received orthodontics as well as further treatment on the front tooth. It was pulled down, the bonding removed and porcelain veneers applied to both front teeth to match color.

Sonja sees her job as a way to give back for everything she has received in her life. It’s a way to help others be healthier, more beautiful and self-confident all at the same time. She firmly believes that God was guiding her path to dentistry.

“From my smile to the desire He put in my heart, to every provision, to my employment opportunities, to the love I still have for what I do! I have always considered it a gift.”
